David Allen Baxter, 71, of Indianapolis, died on April 19, 2019 after a 5-week hospitalization.
He had been well and active prior to this illness of sudden onset. David was born on January 12, 1948 in Indianapolis to Harold and Dorothy Baxter.
David is survived by his sister, Karen Neiswinger, niece Elizabeth Neiswinger, great-nephews
Samuel Neiswinger and Patrick Shea and great-niece, Simone Acheson. He was preceded in
death by his parents, brother Joseph Baxter and nephew, James Neiswinger.
David was employed as a letter carrier by the U.S. Postal Service for more than 47 years, and
retired in December, 2014. He received numerous awards and commendations for the quality of his service. In addition to his family, David will be missed by his many friends, former coworkers and fellow Purdue fans. David was an avid sports fan who loved football, basketball, and baseball.
David’s funeral will be held on April 30, 2019 at Indiana Funeral Care, Harry W. Moore Chapel, 8151 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis, with visitation from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., followed by a prayer service from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. David’s remains will be laid to rest at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery at a later date.

Been friends with Dave for over 50 years! Haven’t stayed in touch of late but when we would get together, it was as if we’d been hanging out the day before. Loved to argue with him about Purdue vs. Indiana. No one won the arguments but it was fun.
